Community Service Information Page

Beginning with the graduating class of 2014, high school students in the Gilroy Unified
School District must complete a minimum of 80 hours of Community Service.
Community Service Requirement BP6746.1(a) revised and adopted August 12, 2010
 
 
 
 
Students must earn ten hours in at least two of the following categories:
  • Senior Citizens
  • Disabled Citizens
  • The Environment
  • Literacy
  • Promoting Health and Wellness
  • Promoting the Arts and Culture
  • Young Children
  • School Related
  • The Homeless
  • Animal Care

To document community service hours, your student should:
  • Take the GUSD time sheet with them to the community service activity.
  • Fill out the form completely
  • Make sure the supervisor at the Community Service activity signs off on the hours
  • Sign the time sheet
  • Have the parent sign the time sheet
  • Make a copy of the time sheet for his or her records
  • Return the form directly to the Community Service Liaison,  Jen Garnica, in the ASB Office 
 
Your student will be receiving a GUSD Community Service pamphlet, a complete list of
requirements, and a time sheet for recording service hours. For more information, a

under students.
