Community Service Information Page

Beginning with the graduating class of 2014, high school students in the Gilroy Unified
School District must complete a minimum of 80 hours of Community Service.
Community Service Requirement BP6746.1(a) revised and adopted August 12, 2010
Students must earn ten hours in at least two of the following categories:
- Senior Citizens
- Disabled Citizens
- The Environment
- Literacy
- Promoting Health and Wellness
- Promoting the Arts and Culture
- Young Children
- School Related
- The Homeless
- Animal Care

To document community service hours, your student should:
- Download the Community Service Time Sheet
- Fill out the form completely
- Make sure the supervisor at the Community Service activity signs off on the hours
- Sign the time sheet
- Have the parent sign the time sheet
- Make a copy of the time sheet for his or her records
- Return the form to the Community Service Coordinator at the school
Your student will be receiving a GUSD Community Service pamphlet, a complete list of
requirements, and a time sheet for recording service hours. For more information, a
